its been quite a while since i saw madeeha gauhar's production 'Bullah'. it was staged in the tagore theatre, chandigarh. several years put together havent managed to erase an iota of my memory. since then i have had several 'bullah' experiences, like drinking black rum and listening to abida render some of his couplets, or that unknown tape with that 'tribal' nuanced music which accompanied many a post lunch/dinner cigarettes, and the 'rabbi version' which the lover gave as a parting gift quite at the start! today was an all 'bullah' day, thanks again to the lover, who got annoyed enough to pack a cd in my bags. the lover leads the bullah experiences. quite fitting.
